VINEET BAHL

Runway Report

Vineet Bahl showed a collection that was exceptional in its sophistication. The young designer is passionate about simple silhouettes embellished with the most intricate embroidery techniques—stitch by stitch. This season, he was "intent on doing soft abstractions"—achieved by mastering the art of modernizing traditional Kantha work and painstakingly employing it to create graphic design, some with neon threads… whatever it takes to realize his vision.

You could call it poetry in motion. Each piece seemed to have been crafted with the back of the garments as carefully detailed as the front, with attention to detail on the yokes and sleeves. We loved the textured shifts worn with polo-necks underneath and the classic Romanian shawls. Of course, all this handwork translates into some bracing prices and Vineet Bahl autumn winter 2012 is perfect for intimate cocktails where you want to create an impression.
