RAHUL MISHRA
Runway Report

For spring summer 2011, Rahul Mishra played with "a mix of luxurious opposites": Chanderi [hand-woven textiles from Madhya Pradesh] and Bandhani [tie-dye from Gujarat]. There was a refreshing splash of woman power appeal in the silk ombre Bandhani tie-dye dress worn over cotton silk pants and hand woven Chanderi Spiral panel bustier dress with woven lotus motif teamed with a pleated jacket that traded punches with a cadre of cocktail dresses dramatized with woven ivory lotus motifs and the stunning hand painted tie-dye peacock motifs.

Unlike his previous showings, this collection tilted more toward dressing up than dressing down and hotsellers included the silk ombre tie-dye Bandhani one-shoulder dress, the reversible canary yellow hand woven chanderi overlap dress with woven ivory lotus motif and the ivory hand woven chanderi overlap dress embellished liberally with silver lotus motifs.
