Runway Report

The Nishka Lulla girl is well-travelled and has license to experiment with her personal style.. and to her delight the Resort 2014 collection offered myriad looks for her to pick and style. She could be a collegiate who heads from the beach to the club one evening and a fashionista who lunches aboard a yatch the next—this was Nishka Lulla in form. While the collection was chiefly daywear most of it was beach chic. The sheer organza printed tunic worn with a pinstripe bralet and high-waist swimwear bottom was both vintage and sexy and a clear standout as was the pink midi with a shirt collar and the mint cotton crop top worn with a high-waist skirt. We loved the way the designer let her ice-cream sundae palette dominate—the layered separates in mint and strawberry were clear winners.

One way to look at it: Nishka has the confidence to design what she believes in and as fashion's wheel of fortune spins it seems to have landed on buy-now wear-now everyday luxe—at good prices since Stylista.com has manufactured the collection and will be sole retailer. The young designer is continuing this relaxed vibe since the past season and we're happy to go along for the ride. 'While designing resort wear I think of comfort and style and—versatility. With so many separates and layers in solids and sheer.. I have enabled the consumer to experiment and style the look to suit her personality. It's as relevant to a fifty-year-old as it is to a teenager' she grinned. Is it any wonder then that while I was clapping hard.. she was given a standing ovation?
