Runway Report

Before their showing at India Beach Fashion Week, Mapxencar twins Riddhi and Siddhi mentioned the resort-inflected bridal line took inspiration from the Golden Pheasant, native to forests in mountainous areas of western China. The duo looked to the strength of the bird’s texture, weaving and embroidering fluid fabrics into a collection that played with fabric manipulation and surface ornamentation.

Waists were nipped in and sculpted silhouettes drew attention to the small waist. The duo dealt their vision of modern tailoring—sending out a wide palazzo with an ornate choli and embroidered scarf, sheer black horizontal weave maxi with antique gold piping worn over a body suit and pre-stitched saris with intricately embroidered pallavs. Origami-fold edging on kurtas, dupattas and cholis lent a unique touch. This was MapxecaRS in a more grown-up mode with designs exuding a new precision and polish. In menswear, the velvet embroidered bandhgala sherwani and raja coat set formal wear trends. Overall, a collection with the distinction of strong, innovative design on a level of maturity which had the guests craning forward, engaged and curious from first look to closing.
