KOVID MITTAL
Runway Report

'''My aesthetic is both classic and experimental and I aspire to bring diversity in men's fashion. I've used cotton, linen, wool and silks to craft coats, blazers and jackets with a variety of sharp cuts and designs'' shared model, theatre actor, sportsman and designer Kovid Mittal before his showcase at India Luxury Style Week.

The showing opened with a mesmerising performance threaded with spiritual-tinged thumping beats that set the tone. And as the first looks came out, I couldn't help but wonder that the distinguishing mark of a good designer is to transform complexity into something that looks simply, inevitably right — and that's what the young man had done; this collection, with its ease and fluidity, had that talent stamped all over it. It was both young and accessibly wearable. Mittal showcased outerwear in a style that each look could be worn right off the catwalk with one's own tee and jeans—and men in the audience sure wished they could!!

Me? I loved the sculpted blazer with contrasting collars, the bandhgala jacket and the second-skinesque jacket with metallic detailing although the embroidered trench and the Jodhpuri-styled pants stole the show! For the man who wants to make a statement on the red caret — the draped, red ensemble worn by Maitrik Thakkar is just right! Last thoughts… a feel of relaxed inclusiveness, with an emphasis on ctarftsmanship, is the axis of this label. There will be plenty of men—bridegrooms too—who will be coveting the outerwear. Not a long wait for them though—this collection would be available at The Colonnade soon!
