Runway Report

Kavita Bhartia’s collection referenced eighteenth century tapestry seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum. A synthesis of history, fantasy and craftsmanship, it showed how concertedly the atelier has been developing points of reference.

The designer's feat was just how modern this collection looked, achieved through lightness; the weightless garments were crafted with organza, tulle, scuba fabric and silk crepe. Each one was constructed with the tiniest detail in mind, from the soft draping on a cocktail dress to the pleats on a full circle voluminous skirt, while embroideries and surface textures formed the aristocratic tapestry prints that wooed the front row. The exquisitely detailed jackets and textured crop tops would be just the thing for their daughters.

I couldn't help thinking, these were clothes my friends and my mom would want! There's another secret to why the collection has made it to must-have lists. Each garment looks simple but is in fact painstakingly created. There is so much work, so much love and care poured into each look, that it didn't come as a surprise to see Kavita Bhartia's guests gushing post-showing.
