Runway Report

Titled 'Madame Povane', Harangad Singh Summer Resort 2011, zinging with champagne, red, blue, pink and black, totally worked; there was nothing of the young designer trying too hard about it, just a wearable chic look, with good color aesthetic, luxe fabrics and ornamentation laden into every piece.

Singh opened with a red pin-tuck long sleeved unlined coat over a black sheath, and moved into textured constructed dresses and a one-shoulder crepe mini. Along the way, he showcased a looped-back dress, peach sheer blouse, blue sheer flare-sleeved chiffon cover over a black tube dress, flapper dresses and several versions of the little black dress though the one that caught our eye had a checkered metallic texture — embroidered with seed beads and crystals.

Of course, if the ladies are to be persuaded to purchase, there has to be a compelling reason. His way is to infiltrate creativity into the mix: a strong silhouette with bold monotone colour—and it worked. Its fashion appeal as a ready-to-wear collection was evident in the cheering guests when he came out to take a bow.
