One of the topmost models in Indian Fashion, Suraj Dhalia gave wings to his dreams in 2012. What contributed to a sky-rocketing career? He has the values of an achiever — focused vision, respect for peers and mentors, quiet confidence and sheer hard work. In conversation with him.
''I hail from the land of five rivers, Punjab. Honestly, I had never thought of modelling but during college days I won the title of 'North India Supermodel', and that was a huge opportunity. I started taking modelling seriously and shifted to Delhi soon after. With time, luck favoured me, and I walked alongside leading fashion models for key designers and fashion weeks. That boosted my confidence a lot and there was no looking back since. In 2015 I was elated when I won another title, 'Global Style India'. My happiness knew no bounds as that was the biggest stepping stone towards taking my career to the next level. Today, I've done campaigns for Amazon and Koovs among other brands and walked for all the top designers. I do like photo-shoots but I love walking on the ramp as that really gives me a high!! I've learnt from all assignments I've undertaken.
What makes me a good model? It's not just great looks or I the fact that I am comfortable with the camera lens; it's because I'm dedicated, passionate and enthusiastic about modelling. My career mantra is to be true to myself! I do appreciate that I work in a glamorous profession and I have to look good all the time. So my fitness mantra is to eat clean and exercise regularly. I mostly do hight intensity training. That said, I love modelling; it's my passion but I'm open to diversifying to related careers. With this in mind, I've recently begun learning the art of acting. Let's see what the future holds for me."
