Raj Bhardwaj is worthy of hyperbole. Hailing from the village of Sultanpur near Delhi—Gurgaon border, he had no clue he would one day be walking for the best designers in India! "My father is a doctor, my mom is a house wife and we are four siblings. After graduation I joined FORCE SSB and earned a medal for best candidate during my training. Due to personal circumstances, I left my job and moved to Delhi where I picked up freelance modelling gigs" he reminisces. Strolling down a studio in Mumbai, he met Hemant Trivedi and the rest is fashion history. He saw the potential in Raj and groomed him. It was the turning point that orbited him to another level!
With dark chocolate skin, lean physique and sharp cheekbones, Raj booked shows at Fashion Week, campaigns for Renault Duster, Lee Cooper, Royal Enfield and designers Hemant Trivedi, Krishna Mehta and Pria Kataaria Puri; television serial "Kali Ek Agnipariksha" and was part of theatre group "Kabeera". With lucrative work coming in, he joined model management firm 3—D and has now shifted base to Cape Town for three months. "It was a good move! I get paid well for projects and it is a huge learning curve here" he grins. Well, we juts know he is going to carve a niche in Cape Town which could well be the beginning of a lucrative career in International fashion.
