Rachel Maria Bayros is the dusky, statuesque and photogenic head-turner who has scorched catwalks and graced high fashion magazines. The Bangalore native considers herself "a child of nature" and cherishes her "creative freedom" expressed through art, writing and photography. "I realized everything is about learning, taking chances and finding my path," she says and this philosophy has earned her 'Times Youth Icon'. After working in Bangalore since 18 and Delhi, this 'Kingfisher Fresh Face' awardee has made Mumbai her home and continues to make headlines in the fraternity. "I have been a part of Fashion Weeks and travelled on work with the best talent in the country. I do everything with passion!"

Rachel describes her personal style as one that "changes continually and is usually meant to compliment how I'm feeling." She "loves wearing a nice blend of comfort, feminine styles, androgynous cuts, hints of color, big jewellery and most importantly confidence." Her go-to items for any occasion in her closet include "VJ Balhara's over-lapped silk pink trousers, high-waist Zara jeans, Ashish Soni's ying yang earrings, Roberto Santi brogues and Cactus leather satchel bag.” A self-confessed style diva she encourages budding fashionistas to "mix and match and add your own personal uniqueness to everything." Her fashion must-haves for the season: "well tailored blazer in a pop color, great pair of blue denims, Brogues, high-waist pencil or hounds-tooth skirt and some crisp linen pieces." Her style icons —Manish Arora, Sabyasachi, Lakshmi Menon and Alexander Mc Queen — are a perfect example of this style mantra.

Rachel believes fashion in India is at an exciting stage, "India has a lot to offer and it is wonderful to see a blend of old styles with new inspiration that could soon catapult Indian fashion to a global stage." Designers like Little Shilpa and stylists like Gautam Kalra are the changing the face of Indian fashion, according to her experience with them. Indian fashion veterans such as Wendell and Rajesh Pratap Singh are a constant source of inspiration, whilst overseas Rachel is an avid fan of Balmain for its rock star chic approach and Stella McCartney for her streamlined aesthetic.
