Pooja Bimrah has scaled heights. After winning 'Miss World Heritage 2015' she was crowned 'Miss India Tourism 2016' and 'Miss World Supermodel—India 2017'. Independent, intelligent and beautiful — with a dazzling smile — she represented India in Hong Kong at 'Miss Supermodel World 2017'.
If the gaze she casts on camera is frosty, her infectious smile and humble demeanour is winsome—qualities that warmed me up to her when I spent some time with her during the campaign shoot for Asia Resort Fashion Week, where is brand ambassador. ''I have always been fascinated with crowns and beauty pageants. But, in India, 'Beauty' is celebrated in a traditional orthodox perspective. I wanted to break the stereotype of fair, beautiful faces and be a part of the legendary categorisation of dusky supermodels and beauty queens. That's what made me enter the modelling and pageantry world. What really made me win the title of 'Miss World Heritage' in South Africa among contestants from fifty countries? My association with tourism and heritage college projects — that brought the ball to my court.
I stared modelling in January '16 and since then there has been no looking back. Walking for Lakme Fashion Week is every young model's dream in India. When I got a chance to walk, it was a new high. Apart from that I've done campaigns for several designers including Elisha W, SS Surya, Manish Arora and Gauri Nainika and have also strutted International runways like Dubai Fashion Week and African Fashion Week. All of this in a single year! That is why I’m absolutely happy with what I'm doing right now. I'm passionate about my life and I want to explore more and more everyday. I have a long way to go and much more to achieve! This industry has a lot to offer. Over the months I've understood and analysed that and now I've launched my own travel and fashion series 'Travel In Style'. Guess who's the model in that show? ;) I'm travelling the world to film in different countries! My second venture 'The Fashion Advocate', a styling consultancy company, is collaborating with International firms for celebrity styling. So I'm very excited about these two new ventures!
I'd like to share some advice here. Nowadays every young girl who feels she is beautiful wants to become a model. But they don't understand the amount of hard work and sheer effort that has to be put in to progress in the right direction. All of them are so fascinated seeing magazine covers and campaign pictures of professional models but little do they know it's team work. That said, if someone is passionate about modelling, she should try her luck with no expectations because there are a million girls trying for it and not everyone is successful. Being street smart and worldly wise are two things the brain should be equipped with as you can be easily fooled in this big world."
