Indian Models

In conversation with model, actor and Ms Rajasthan, Isha Anand Sharma.

''I was born and brought up in Jaipur and thought of my pursuing my passion for modelling and acting after completing BBA from Rajasthan University. Sure there were neigh-sayers but modelling and acting is my passion. So why would I want to settle for something I'm not interested in? What kind of life would I be living if I wasn't doing something I love? Acting is my life. Right from my college days… I got a head start! I was simultaneously doing small print shoots. I used to get chosen for college catalogues; someone advised me to participate in Ms Rajasthan — and I ended up winning that! There was no looking back since!!

I love acting because I love playing different roles! I love that I get to act like a completely different person and I explore the psyche of that character. It doesn't matter who I'm playing; I will devote myself to that character. My style makes me different. Every character I play, I let the character take over. I adapt to the character. Thankfully, I have my family supporting me through everything. My work is going good right now so I'm lucky that I don't need to do anything else to supplement my income.  Although yeah an alternate job is important because sometimes you do need a back-up. Someday I'll open up my own business but my main focus will always be acting.

I've learnt a lot from all of my experiences and I love what I do. No work is too small. I really do enjoy everything I get to do. Till date there have been some good campaigns like 'FHM' Girl Next Door; television serials Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki; CID; Ye Hai Ashiqi; Savdhaan India; Splitsvilla 9. But when it comes to popularity, it is only after MTV Splitsvilla that people have started recognising me! On a more serious note, when a shoot gets over and pack up is is late at night, it is important to keep in mind, safety of women in the cast and crew. It's fine if a shoot gets over late, that is not an issue, but the production company should make the girls get home safely by providing some security.

That said, my long term career goal is acting in Bollywood — that's what I've always wanted to do and I'm working very hard towards that. I want people to know me by the work I do. And, yes, I do focus on diet and fitness. I’m a foodie, so I love to eat all kinds of food, but I maintain a balance. I'm lucky my metabolism is fast so it helps me stay in shape!!''
