KOMAL SOOD

"The journey began with being crowned Miss India 1992 Second Runners-Up and representing India at Miss International in Japan. Soon, a keen interest in fashion design developed. This lead me to enroll at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in 1996. Armed with the requisite knowledge and skill, I launched a clubwear brand "Kyra" in 1998, which now has a successful format and recognition.

In 2005, I took a step forward to launch luxury label "Komal Sood". The journey from club wear to couture was very exciting. Food is a passion and it keeps me constantly stimulated. The designs have always been glamorous and that continuity remains. "Komal Sood" has evolved into a label that epitomizes luxury. In fact, my latest collection "Birds of Paradise" has some beautiful gowns crafted from silk, flat chiffon, georgette, satin and taffeta that are perfect for red carpet occasions. This is just the beginning of the journey. Talks are in the pipeline for opening my first standalone store in Central Delhi this autumn and then we will work towards opening one in Mumbai as well. In the meantime, I am looking for presence in urban stores across the globe."
