IN CONVERSATION WITH RIDDHI SIDDHI MAPXENCARS

''This is our fifth season at India Beach Fashion Week'', say designer duo Riddhi and Siddhi Mapxencar. ''It's all the more special because we are Goans by origins so going back home and showcasing in the presence of friends and family is so exciting!!''

''This season, mapxencaRS will unveil its first ever prêt line with 'An Autumn In Japan'. It's special because we have always showcased festive and occasion wear so this is a refreshing change of pace with pret as the prime focus. Speaking of the collection, we have aspired to depict the exquisite, natural beauty of Japan — the line features influences of Japanese origami, textures and fabric manipulations crafted with pure chiffon, georgette, satin and silk. So expect easy-peasy cuts for confident modern women and of course there would be drama created by ruffles and our signature textures. Key silhouettes include flare cuts, drapes and cowled dhoti pants.

We always focus on a smart mix of commercial appeal or and creativity. One cannot just make a piece of art with nobody wanting to wear it. What's required is a good mix of art and commerce. And we keep it fresh season after season by breathing fresh air! Ha ha!! I guess meditation helps a lot in the design process! That said, three must-have items in every Indian woman's closet is a beautiful chiffon sari, a white kurta and a smart shirt dress. you can't go wrong with that! Lastly... looking back at our career graph... a piece of advice we would give to our younger self — I think you have been doing pretty well; just do what you do the best!!!''
