SONAM DUBAL

Runway Report

Sonam Dubal Autumn '13 has dimension as he cut luxurious silk, velvet and wool in flattering ways. His interest in finely embroidered capes  and jackets—there was one great example after another which would make him quite popular with retailers!! All that and a number of shirts and dresses (worn with printed tights)—at times, embellished with mirror work or threadwork.. at others, with tie-dye and patchwork.

As arcane as the concept sounds.. a hybrid of textures and prints gave Dubal opportunity to exercise his impressive growth as a designer. Strip away the ten-away history of his label or 'Winter Garden' theme and there is still a collection's worth of alluring outfits. Plus this season he invested in accessories like obi belts, scarves and Mary Jane shoes—all of which were winners. Walking out of his showing.. I wholly appreciated the sophistication of his craft and the free-ranging extent of his imagination. A winner!
