Runway Report

Powered by R|Elan, performance wear brand Alcis Sports collaborated with designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed to present a limited edition line of sustainable gym and workwear, at Lakme Fashion Week. The two-pronged theme? To showcase the hottest pret and be a stage for certain causes to shine, particularly Responsible Fashion.

Until a few years ago, sustainability rarely came up in conversation but today you’d be an outlier if you aren't paying attention. Some designers have given their production cycle a rethink, others are reducing their carbon footprint. Add to that technological advancements and the future of fashion is truly looking brighter. The most prominent example of this green trend is Alcis X Nari, who used the greenest fabrics with R|Elan™ Kooltex technology which integrates moisture management, anti-odour, anti-UV properties, and is designed keeping in mind the Indian weather!! The result was a lineup of sleek, chic and covetable T-shirts, joggers, bombers, blazers, layered jackets and leggings — a victory lap for sustainable fashion.

''As next gen customers become more conscious about their health, and focus on sports and working out, there is a need to create attire that blurs the divide between sportswear and casual wear. We have used the greenest fabrics ever that also enhances performance'' explains Nari. PS The designer drover the point further home by capturing our aspiration towards conserving our environment in a unique style — getting guests and models to mindfully dispose trash! Yeah, this was the show where Sustainability Got Sexy!!
