Luxury Spa reviews of India
IRIDIUM SPA, ST REGIS MUMBAI

From time to time, we need a retreat to relax, a sanctuary to unwind, a place to escape from the pressures of daily life. And I had heard from discerning travellers that Iridium Spa — exclusive to St Regis worldwide — is one such destination. Translating to "rainbows," 'Iridium' comes from Greek mythological goddess Iris, who transcends sea and sky as a messenger, and manifests as a rainbow. It's also a precious rare metal.

Digesting this piece of information, my expectations were high as I walked out of the lift into the 22,000 sq ft wellness floor at St Regis Mumbai — comprising of the athletic club, magnificent pool and luxurious spa, I was delighted to see the the ambience, with beautiful lanterns and candles, offered deep relaxation. Perusing the menu, I browsed an assortment of treatments ranging from facials, massages, baths, wraps and scrubs. Or indulge in signature services such as the 120-min Iridium Signature Massage which uses a blend of rose and healing flower immortelle. Or the 90-min Classic Hungarian which includes body brush; detoxifying exfoliation using sea salts, Hungarian moor mud and capsicum peptide; deep cleansing body mask; and scalp massage. Or the alluring 90-min Blue Diamond Facial.

However, a conversation with the spa manager assured me I should choose a treatment tailored for my elemental needs. Due to knots and sore points, and sensitive skin, she advised me to go for firm-pressure deep tissue massage with gentle grape seed oil. The therapy began with a salt foot scrub. Relaxed, I surrendered to the hard massage and could feel the tension being released from rigid muscles as the therapist expertly massaged oil into the body and then stretched my limbs as far as the body could take it. The objective was to coax muscles to relax and let the oil seep in. Walking out of the spa deeply relaxed, with a vow to return soon, I highly recommend Iridium bespoke transformative therapies for all of us with an active lifestyle or gruelling work schedule… or just to feel relaxed and radiant!
