THE IMPERIAL SPA

The 16,000 sq ft Imperial Spa is one of the largest award-winning spas in the nation. Designed for resident guests at The Imperial, it embraces a salon and fitness centre.. pool and racquet courts nestled amidst landscaped gardens. Taking a tour of the multi-level spa I observed that the space exudes uptown elegance and a bit of Zen with the architecture highlighting Mughal and Indian motifs embedded magnificently in the niches.

Heading back to the spa reception, I was welcomed by the team and over a cup of ginger tea and dry fruits they acquainted me with the treatment menu. Whoa! Browsing through Ayurveda and hedonistic massages.. Shiatsu and body wraps.. hot stones and facial scrubs.. I finally picked a massage with healing 'Sufi' oil blend i.e. Kabir Oil that assured deep relaxation. Depending on the level of tiredness one can choose a 30-minute shoulder and back rub or indulge in the 75-minute massage that had me sleeping like a baby before the therapist was done! As she deftly applied a concoction of Frankincense and Neroli Blossom blended with essential oils on my skin, her firm movements had a therapeutic effect that left my skin clean, relaxed and fragrant.

On waking up and heading for a steam bath, I felt the Sufi oil has the goodness to rejuvenate taut tired muscles — my shoulders and back had been sore due to long hours on the computer — as it had relieved me of sore, stressed muscles. Hours later, I still feel it was a blissful experience and worth every pretty penny!!
