PARK HYATT GOA RESORT AND SPA

Set on 45 acres of beachfront land, Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa is modelled ion a Goan township with gardens and courtyards linked by Venetian style canals, bridges and cobbled paths. The frontage of the hotel is a patio that leads into a lobby resembling a grand Goan House overlooking waterways and beyond that, the sea.

The first thing I observed about the grandiose resort is its discreet luxury and prime location in South Goa — away from the bars and fleas Goa is synonymous with. After all, the A-List doesn't want to be stared at, thankyouverymuch. Tranquility is the predominant concern, with breathtaking visuals and impeccable service. The unique features are its Portuguese style villas divided into five courtyards (with clusters of rooms), each distinctive in theme, architecture and landscape, set apart by lagoons, tropical gardens and quaint bridges. The resort is anchored by two areas — Village Square and Lobby Plaza. Set around the courtyard of Village Square are an assortment of restaurants and bars — Village Cafe, Casa Sarita, Da Luigi, Masala, Praia de Luz and Poolside Bar. Palms overlooks Arossim Beach. the Lobby Plaza is quieter and formal — it doubles as a outdoor pre-function area for adjacent ballrooms. The resort also offers a dedicated area for kids and one of India's largest swimming pools with slides and whirlpools. Last, but not the least, spread over 36,000 sq. ft. is Sereno Spa steeped in Ayurvedic and yogic traditions.

Coming back to my stay, I was picked at the airport and offered a cold towel, water and cookies en route. Walking in, I was offered a welcome drink of coconut water in its shell, approached by the management to sign on check-in documents and taken to the room. Here, I was given a goodie bag packed with fruits, a box of chocolates and a bottle of red wine… and was touched by the sheer effort to welcome guests. Making my way to the bathroom I was ecstatic that it was huge — with a spa-inspired sunken stone tub! I then made my way to Italian restaurant Da Luigi where the chef recommended Sweet Shrimp Pizza and a flute of French wine followed by the entree — Herb-crusted Lamb Shoulder on a bed of pumpkin mash. Bliss is an understatement! Is it any wonder Da Luigi has been awarded Most Authentic Italian Restaurant in India by Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry? Time flew by as I tucked in and observed the stunning view of the pool and lush foliage… and soon it was time for my spa appointment where I experienced a 90-minute scrub, steam and massage with cashew products (review coming up!). Deeply rejuvenated, I took a stroll on the beach, a flute of red wine at the lively lounge and then made my way for dinner at their signature restaurant Casa Sarita which has introduced a menu presenting a modern interpretation of traditional Goan dishes. I can confidently say I have never experienced such flavourful cuisine (click here for the review!).

Time flew by and before I knew it, it was time to check out the following morning — but not before shopping at The Spa Boutique for organic beauty potions. Overall, Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa with its attention to detail, tropical design, picturesque landscaping and choreographed architecture blending into the landscape, has been designed as the ultimate resort hotel — an eco-sensitive, relaxing, Goan experience! Very highly recommended.
