Robin Chaudhary shifted tracks from hospitality executive to model and actor. In conversation with the young man who will be storming the ramp at Intimasia, Kochi.

''I hail from a region where people have no idea about the modeling; even youngsters there do not consider modeling a career option but I've always wanted to do something different. After graduating in hotel management, I never thought I would one day be a professional model. I was recruited as an executive in Taj Rambagh Palace Jaipur and then Bose Cop as I wanted to shift to Delhi. I couldn't have continued my job there for long because the routine became monotonous. One day, I got a call from a friend who was aware of my interest in modeling and he asked me to send him some workout photographs for a sportswear show. With God's blessings, I got shortlisted for the show. At show time, I was nervous and excited; it was a dream come true. There's been no looking back since and I feel blessed that my family is supporting me to pursue my dream.

I just thought of being me and enjoying doing what I love. I am focused on my work. I always respect call time for shows and shoots. I hate being late; that shows unprofessionalism. If you are serious, you have to be careful about call time because a team is waiting for you. My career mantra is to be true to yourself. To work in a glamorous industry, I have to look good and be presentable all the time so I follow fitness mantras — eat healthy food like fibre and green vegetables, and drink a lot of water. No junk food, no soft drinks. Work out and practice yoga regularly as it makes you stress free and gives you inner piece. I am blessed my hard work is paying off! I have done campaigns for Zari and Lakme Fashion Week, among others and I have walked for India's top designers. I love facing the camera but walking on the ramp really gives me a high! Apart from the modeling, I do theatre. Playing different characters on the stage gives me happiness.

Right now, I’m excited about Intimasia. It will give me the opportunity to experience the culture of Kochi. I love travelling and this will be my first trip to Kochi. I've read a lot about the region and its culture i.e. the queen of Arabian sea with one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the world!! See you there!''
