RAJASTHAN YOUTH ICON RISHEE MIGLANI

— JASMEEN DUGAL

Though he's insanely handsome, his simmering ambition, hard work and career graph is worthy of hyperbole. Model, actor and youth icon Rishee Miglani has been in fashion and cinema since ten- twelve years. He carved a niche when his first photo shoot by ace photographer Dabboo Ratnani caught everyone's attention and led to television commercials for McDonalds, Pantaloons, Rexona and Tata. 'Three Idiots' was being filmed at that time and he was chosen for Pantaloons commercial, for which Aamir Khan designed 'Three Idiots' T-shirts. Next, he was part of MTV reality show 'Making The Cut' and made his cine debut with 'Khwaab'. Today he is Brand Ambassador of Ministry Of Sports And Youth Affairs Of Rajasthan and is renowned as youth icon of the state. Now, in conversation with the pillar of Rajasthan's most star-wattage showing, The Fashion Connect.

''It's not difficult to see the magic that lies in the state's artisanal textile craft. Rajasthan has a rich culture and is a goldmine for couples getting married; they travel here to buy beautiful handcrafted lehengas, churidars and achkans. A lot of people come here to buy fine jewellery. The state is slowly becoming the hub of Indian fashion and there are so many prolific showings here that it is collectively taking the fashion industry of Rajasthan to the next level.

The Fashion Connect is one of the biggest showings in Rajasthan. We have had more than five- six hundred people in attendance each edition. It. is a to- the- point show. There is no drama. We do not give bouquets or awards to anyone. There are three- four shows after which there is a break before the finale. We have had Archana Kochhar, Mandira Wirk, Rohit Verma and Vikram Phadnis showcasing in previous seasons and now we have Neeta Lulla. Our intention is to raise the standard of the fashion industry of Rajasthan and give people who belong to Jaipur a high quality showing. A lot of designers from Jaipur aspire to participate in Lakme Fashion Week or India Fashion Week but don't know how to go about it. I aspire to curate a show of the same status, here in Jaipur, for them. They deserve a better market and bigger opportunities. I want to foster their creativity and empower them. That's what I'm committed to…

Since it is a bi- annual showing, we choose a different venue and production each time so it does not get monotonous. Because we do it at different venues, people look forward to it to check out what is new in each edition. We do a lot of installations outside the venue. We have had luxury partners like Mercedes and BMW; now we have Skoda. We spend a lot of time, money and effort on the production, set, lighting, choosing the designers, the models. Several designers have participated one season after the other which is evidence of how beneficial it is. I am grateful it has been well received and we always have a packed house. The team is spearheaded by Jagdish Chandra, Chairman CMD, First India News Rajasthan. He is very supportive. And, of course, show director Lokesh Sharma and the production team are my pillars. What I enjoy the most is, of course, is the day of the showing when all the hard work pays off and everything falls into place. Today it is one of the most anticipated shows in Rajasthan, For example, there have been instances where people have forwarded watsapp invitations and taken coloured printouts just to enter the venue… all of this is thrilling…’'
