MEET THE 2 GIRLS HEADING MISU IMAGE CONSULTANTS

Young women nationwide are changing the face of our fashion landscape with their fabulous sense of style. Explosive Fashion exclusively brings to you two women who are employing their aesthetic to good use with MISU Image Consultants.

Founders Mitali and Sumaiya have best friends since the age of seven and "they couldn't be more in sync if they tried!" Mumbai born and bred they attended the J.B Petit High School for Girls together, and soon after Mitali pursued a degree in Fine Arts, Apparel Merchandising and Art History while Summiyya began launched a clothing label and jewellery line. That was just the beginning. The two young women noticed a gaping void in the environment of fashion styling and launched MISU in 2011 as a one-stop shop for a one-off shoot, shopping expedition, wardrobe overhaul or image overhaul. They got their "inspiration from the Italian tradition of "La Bella Figura" which loosely translates into "the beautiful body". It is a tradition of presenting one's self at their best at all times. MISU has a network of different services: they connect their clients to the best in hair and make-up, health and fitness, and clothing by creating customized packages for each individual.

The fashionistas and business partners complement each other with their different styles and personalities, which result in something "rather unique and fabulous". Summiyya's style is classy and chic but she likes to play around with past, present and futuristic trends to create something different whilst Mitali (painter by passion) tends to be edgier while maintaining an air of elegance. She "loves playing around with pieces much like an artist would with color and shape."

The young women believe "experimentation is essential to running a successful business in the fashion world and we are destined to unravel and re-invent the definition and standing of the 'image consultant' in this country." Their inspiration can come from "anywhere and everywhere: prints, colors, fabrics, art and music... it is limitless! Like any trend hunter, we travel and take to the streets and also blind ourselves in front of computer screens, books and magazines to ensure we are as up to date and inventive."

The MISU women believe that every fashionista worth her salt should have five wardrobe staples. "Jeans that fit well and make you feel better, few statement accessory pieces such as a neon satchel, some neutral pieces such as a cream blazer or tan pants, one flattering sexy outfit that makes you look like a million bucks and a pair of black heels!" What are MISU staple tips for burgeoning fashionistas? "Don't mimic a trend for the sake of being a follower! Embrace it in a way that suits you best. Know your body and dress accordingly in terms of coolers, silhouettes and lengths. Stock up on basics, and you can keep recreating your look by changing your hair, make-up and accessories. Fashion need not be tedious or stressful and therefore it is important to incorporate your personality into what you wear. It is essential to note the difference between vulgarity and sexy. Lastly... remember it isn't "who" you are wearing but how you are wearing it."

When sourcing for clients, MISU scours the country for classic pieces and hot trend items. Some of their regular shopping pit stops include Oak Tree, Accessorize, Bombay Electric, Curio Cottage, Aquamarine, Zara, Fuel, Vero Moda, The Collective and Le Mill and a few of their favorite designers include Rajesh Pratap Singh, Pria Kataria Puri, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Manish Arora, Sabyasachi, Herver Leger, Pucci, Stella McCartney and YSL. Currently MISU loves the "YSL glam silk chiffon jumpsuit, Ferragamo hounds-tooth print dress, Dolce and Gabbana star chiffon dress, Bottega hot pink bag and Tods loafers from the current seasons showings." For the party season MISU recommends the following on-trend look: "wear something with sequins as it screams New Year, draw a winged liner on eyes, coat lashes with lots of mascara, choose an orange tint for the lips and wear your hair in a messy fish plait!"

Though unwilling to reveal names, MISU consults top-notch models, actors, socialites and publications and are dedicating themselves to their vision of providing clients with the "best services possible that are related to their image so that they may put their best foot forward every day. We want to create a new status for image consultant in India." So far, they have got a great responses from those they have managed to reach out to and their future looks bright and highly fashionable!

I like the neckpiece subtly peeking out from the blouse though perhaps the bangles are too matchy-matchy?

I agree with the staples though a cute diamond ring or bracelet is becoming a must-have splurge!
