Happy New Year to each and every one of you! May we fill this year with compassion and humanity.
Well the world certainly did not end in 2012 so we have nothing but new beginnings to look forward to in 2013. The year started off on nothing short of a bang for me as I hosted Seduction 2013 @ the spectacular Sahara Star. The evening saw "the Honorable managing worker and chairman of the Sahara Pariwar Sri Subrata Roy Sahara - Sahara Sri ji" (yes that is his title which indeed I had to repeat all night long) attend the new years festivities and my oh my what a fantastic night it proved to be.
We began the night with our condolences to India's brave heart and her family with a one minute silence and a few lines I had written for her. It had been such a tragic and sad week leading up to NYE and I felt it important to voice our concerns. It was merely a small gesture but the Sahara Pariwar and myself felt strongly about it. And so the night began. There is nothing I enjoy more in all the feathered caps I wear than being on stage and anchoring a live event. The rush of it... the thrill and fear of being live with no room to make a mistake... especially with famous and high profile people in the audience and no script in hand! I LOVE IT! And of all the many, many events I host all year round New Years Eve proves to be the most satisfying. The reason being there's a good 3,000 people in the audience, the performances are the best of its kind, everyone is geared up to party like its 1999 and I get to do the countdown @ midnight! 10.9.8.7 and my work is done... hello new year and hello party time!
This year was particularly special for me because every year I've had a co-host on stage the likes of Manish Paul last year and Rahman the year before. They have taught me so much and we've had so much fun on stage performing but this year I had the honor of carrying the whole night by myself. I was definitely a tad bit nervous and the fact that all the acts and show flow went through a thousand different last minute changes up to two hours before the event but thank the Lord I managed to pull it all off flawlessly. I memorized what I had scripted and improvised the rest. And what is the most exciting pre show moment... choosing an outfit of course to bring in the new year with! Last year I wore Babita Malkani and this year I wore the very sparkly Komal Sood strapless number. Stage outfits have to stand out so when picking a NYE garment its important to take into consideration the color of your stage set and environment. Also a lot of the times it is not up to you and goes as per the client brief. Lucky for me... I've worked with Sahara and Aamby Valley City for three years now and they trust me with both the scripting for the shows and the outfits.
The night was amazing and although I missed seeing my friends who were all either overseas partying or out of Mumbai working... I still managed to dance the night away with 3,000 people, my bodyguards and the wonderful staff @ Sahara Star Hotel. Love You Guys! Wake up in 2013 and consciously be the change you want to see. Xx
