THE SMOKED LINER BY JENNA MENARD, CLINIQUE

Clinique's first Global Color Artist Jenna Menard reveals how to create the smoked liner. "For a simple twist on the smoky eye, focus on lining the upper and lower lashes. I layered liner and shadow to add depth and definition for a dramatic look while keeping the rest of the eyelid soft with matte brown shadow so focus is on the defined lash line. Natural tones on the rest of the face allow eyes to stand out."

Methodology: begin by applying primer across the lid using the wand and blending with fingers. Apply liner along the lower lash line and along the outer third of the upper lash line and then soften the line using a brush. Blend shadow into the liner on the top and bottom lash line and again soften the line using a brush, keeping the intensity at the outer corners of the eyes and blending inwards. Blend the second shadow across the lid, focusing on the crease. Then create a strong lash line with multiple coats of voluminous mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Finish the look with bronzer on the cheek bones and keep lips natural using lipstick in a nude shade with a touch of gloss.
